Programs

Thanks to you....we are serving 3,000 children annually. Please help us help as many children as possible reach their true potential.

For more than 90 years, Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBS) has enriched the lives of thousands of children throughout the greater Los Angeles area by providing excellence in mentoring.  JBBBS provides a broad variety of innovative, highly regarded mentoring programs and services regardless of a family's ability to pay.

Our programs produce measurable positive impacts and help children to reach their true potential, including:

  • - Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters, one-to-one mentoring program for Jewish children
  • - School-based mentoring, a peer-to-peer mentoring program between high school and lower class students
  • - Sports Buddies and Arts Buddies, two separate weekend mentoring programs for all children, regardless of  race, religion or  ability to pay
  • - JBBBS Scholarship program
  • - Camp Max Straus, a residential summer camp for underserved children, regardless of  race, religion or  ability to pay
  • - Witherbee Wilderness Backpacking Program

JBBBS employs trained clinicians and counselors to oversee mentoring matches.  They screen and train our adult volunteers and mentors to ensure match success and continuity.  Volunteer opportunities are available in many of the JBBBS programs.

Statistics show that the work of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles has a significant impact on the children that participate, as they are:

  • - 52% less likely to skip school
  • - 46% less likely to begin using drugs
