JBBBSLA issued the following statement on June 2, 2020.
As a community-based organization, our mission is to empower young people in Los Angeles to reach their full potential.
We value each person and see differences as strengths that make each of us unique. Across our programs, Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters, Camp Bob Waldorf, Teen Talk, and the Erwin Rautenberg College Guidance Program, we seek to remove obstacles for all young people so they can realize their full potential. And yet, recent events have shown us that obstacles remain in our society, in our culture, in our city, and in our nation. It is up to all of us to work together to remove those obstacles and create a more perfect union.
Our Jewish tradition teaches: “Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof – Justice, justice you shall pursue.” During this time of injustice, we stand with those seeking justice. We stand with all communities of color. We support and appreciate our diverse city, employees, partner organizations, adult role models, and children. Together we form the inclusive community of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles.
Together, we are defenders of potential.
