Our hearts are with Israel: A message from JBBBSLA CEO Cari Uslan and Board President Sandy Sigal

JBBBSLA CEO Cari Uslan and Board President Sandy Sigal Shared the Following Message on October 7, 2023

We all awoke this morning to terrifying news coming from Israel. For those of us with connections to Israel, the recurring sense of uncertainty regarding the country’s safety has become unfortunately familiar. Incidents like suicide bombings on buses and in markets have sadly become commonplace, each one jarring, distressing, and traumatic. It’s a reality we grapple with, understanding the delicate nature of Israel’s existence since its inception, marked by ongoing attacks.

However, the present situation is uniquely dire. Israel faces a level of threat to its survival that hasn’t been witnessed for half a century. Our hearts ache for the Israeli community, both within Israel itself and here in Los Angeles. We are acutely aware that many among us have cherished family, friends, and loved ones in Israel. In this harrowing time of terror, our thoughts are steadfastly with you. We grieve for those who have suffered loss or have been taken against their will. Our prayers are also with the Israeli Defense Forces, hoping for their strength and resilience, and yearning for a swift resolution to this dreadful conflict.

On this Shabbat and holy day of Shemini Atzaret, we pray for peace. Shabbat Shalom.
