Programs at Camp Max Straus are designed to maximize the inherent value of the camping experience and to provide a success-oriented experience in a noncompetitive environment.
Peer interaction is facilitated thorough counselor leadership during participation in camp activities and programs. Campers participate in activities and programs with the members of their cabin group under the supervision of their cabin counselors and the program specialists.
The overall camper to staff ratio is a 2 to 1 and 5 to 1 in the sleeping cabins designed to maintain a positive, restorative camping environment.
Parents may contact Camp Max Straus to receive an application. All forms must be carefully completed and returned to us immediately. Referring agencies may initiate the application process after consulting with the parent or guardian.
Additionally, agencies and parents are asked to thoughtfully complete a questionnaire regarding the child. This information is used to assist the professional staff of Camp Max Straus meet the needs of each individual child.

Post-Camp Services
At the end of each session, one of the child’s cabin counselors will write a report summarizing the child’s experience at camp. The report provides insights on such areas as interaction with peers and counselors, participation in programs, adjustment with the separation from home, problems or other relevant details. A copy of this report will be sent to the parent or guardian of the child. Upon consent of the guardian, the referring agency will also receive a copy of that report.
Cost
