More than 350 community leaders, mentoring matches, and families attended the brunch and carnival to support camp programming and learn how Camp Bob Waldorf transforms the lives of over 1,000 Los Angeles youth each year. Guests also enjoyed camp tours and a carnival featuring food trucks,  a rock-climbing wall, DJ, inflatable obstacle course, arts & crafts, bubble play, archery, arts & crafts, the LAX PUPs, and games.

Sunday Funday honored Glenn Goodstein, a former JBBBSLA Board Member, Camp Bob Waldorf camper, Big Brother, and Little Brother. JBBBSLA Board President Sandy Sigal introduced Glenn, thanking him for his years of dedication to the agency. “Glenn’s dedication has left a lasting mark on JBBBSLA, and his commitment to helping others is inspiring,” Sigal said. “His story reminds us all of the incredible ripple effect of mentorship and giving back, and he continues to challenge us to reach further and do more.”

JBBBSLA CEO Cari Uslan welcomed guests to the brunch, acknowledging the challenges of the past year for the Jewish community.

“As we come together today, I want to acknowledge that this year has brought deep challenges for our world and especially for the Jewish community,” Uslan said. “We’ve faced events that remind us of the resilience and courage it takes to stand together in the face of adversity. In times like these, gathering as a community—grounded in compassion, strength, and hope—becomes all the more powerful.”

JBBBSLA Board Member and Sunday Funday Committee Chair Alex Kozakov and Interim Camp Director Ben Farris also delivered remarks before former camper and camp counselor Francisco Gallegos Cabrera shared his camp experience.

“Camp Bob Waldorf gave me so much more than just fun activities — it gave me confidence,” Cabrera said. “Each year, as I participated in the programs, I found myself growing more and more. I went from being a shy little kid to becoming a part of the Witherbee program for teens, where I learned leadership skills and how to mentor others, how to persevere and push myself when I have no more to give. It was here, in this nurturing environment, that I discovered who I was and what I was capable of.”

LA City Councilmember Nithya Raman and representatives from Assemblymembers Laura Friedman, Jesse Gabriel, and Isaac Bryan’s offices also attended the event. Special thanks to the Sunday Funday lead sponsors GSG Capital Advisors, the Goodstein, Isdaner, Shane, and Sigal families, LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, donors, JBBBSLA staff, JBBBSLA Board, the Sunday Funday Committee, and the Camp Bob Waldorf staff.
